George RR Martin vs. JK Rowling
Posted by Ben on 11/01/2012, 9:00 AM
“I love both Harry Potter and “The Game of Thrones” (more accurately, the ‘Song of Fire and Ice’ series of books). This image appeared on Topless Robot along with the news of a spoiler chapter for the 6th book ‘The Winds of Winter’. I have burnt through all of the series and I’m awaiting this sixth book with great anticipation. I’m also looking forward to seeing the second TV Series which is suppose to be out April 2012.” – Ben

MSNBC Reporter slams NYPD Brutality of ‘Occupy Wall Street’
Posted by Ben on 16/11/2011, 9:00 AM
“This didn’t make the news a lot here in Australia, but there were some really horrific treatment of non-violent protestors in NYC (and worldwide). I don’t really care too much about the 99%/1% debate at all, but I do care about police attacking innocent people. I like that this reporter actually calls them out about it” – Ben

Sushi on Stanley
Posted by Ben on 18/09/2011, 8:30 AM
“Welcome to the very first ‘Bentastic place!’ I wasn’t aware of this, but this little place has an Eatability rating of 9.5/10, which is pretty awesome. If I am in the mood for Sushi, I definitely want to come here” – Ben
This has got to be one of the best and cheapest Japanese restaurants in Sydney. It’s tucked away on Stanley St in Darlinghurst, but well worth fighting for a parking spot and going.
Not only is the food really tasty, but its quite cheap too. I go and eat a feast with my girlfriend and wouldn’t spend more than $25.00 in total.
I managed to snap a photo of their menu, which outlines there prices (as of 15/9/2011). I don’t think I will be taking photos of the menus at other places, but this was a good quick way to highlight how cheap their food is!
Sorry about the above photo being a bit blurry in some areas. Unfortunately I snap most of my photos with my iPhone (I haven’t gotten to the point of bringing a DSLR with me to take photos).
I know it’s poor form to take photos of a dish after you have started eating it, but this is the problem with Sushi on Stanley – the moment you get the food, you want to eat it! I have been there on 3 occasions and tried to take photos but wolfed down the good food before I remembered to snap some shots. Alas we had taken one bite of the each of our respective sushi orders and I’ll just include them because they highlight my next point quite well.
Take a look at those sushi rolls… notice anything? how about the sheer amount of salmon vs. rice ratio in the roll? It is epic. Most places give you the smallest amount of filling and more rice, but at Sushi on Stanley you get portions like these. I typically order the Mini Avocado rolls (previous photo), but after trying my gf’s rolls (above) I am a convert.
I am at a loss to describe how amazing their Chicken Teriyaki is. It is tasty, sweet and sticky… The only problem with it is that you feel the desire to consume a bucket load of it. This is the one dish I would recommend you HAVE to try.
I picked the ‘Teriyaki & Dumpling Combo’ and of course had the Chicken Teriyaki (see previous comments). Whilst their fried dumplings aren’t nearly as good as Ichi Ban Boshi’s Gozya (to be reviewed at a later date), they are pretty nice. The entire set only costs $10.50, which is great.
The service is usually pretty good, unless you are sitting on an outside table and the waitresses don’t see you.
Read Eatability’s reviews of Sushi on Stanley and head over and try it, you won’t be displeased.

Google Wave
Posted by Ben on 09/12/2009, 4:19 PM
Sorry for neglecting my blog for the last month and a bit, but I got access to Google Wave and also bought CoD MW2.
Google Wave
- Pro’s
- Interesting, new, preview-only
- Rapid sharing/organisational abilities.
- Uploading photos is really easy (drag & drop)
- Con’s
- Preview-only limits number of users/friends
- High technical learning curve / poor introduction to wave.
- Glitchy (its a beta-testing phase)
- Photo galleries are not quickly viewable (need to enter/exit each image separately).
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Mw2)

Ahhhhh Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game of the year and massive waster of my time. I haven’t played it as much as I’d like, but man… the online multiplayer is awesome!
Anyway… I’ve just enabled wordpress on my Google Chrome browser, so you should start seeing more content appearing on this blog soon.
- Ben.
